Married To The Maverick Millionaire by: Joss Wood

This is the third installment in the “From Mavericks to Married” hockey series. Callahan and Quinn have been friends their whole lives. He’s a playboy who is trying to become an owner of the Mavericks hockey team with his two friends. He’s a bit of a playboy and his reputation is scaring one of their investors. He needs to clean up his act and Callahan also needs to conveniently get married to stick it to her abusive ex husband trying to still control her from his grave. From there, the usual accidentally falling in love happens but Quinn is closed off to love and nearly ruins their friendship. But don’t worry, it all works out in the end!

Overall, I liked the book and thought it was an easy read. The abusive aspect that was thrown in seemed a little random, as well as the bit where he thought he couldn’t have kids. I wish that was played out a bit more instead of the “all of a sudden” segway to each.  She came from an abusive relationship and his way to get back at her from the grave was to require her to marry another man or she would get all of his money? That part doesn’t really make sense to me.. So she tells Quinn they should marry to save his reputation and to help herself. The whole “she has to marry to not inherit” reason isn’t even heard of until later on in the book when she tells him about it but it’s very quick and not a big deal. Then finally when she tells him she wants to be with him he balks, duh, and then she leaves. His friends tell him he’s a bone head and it’s all figured out! Good thing she picked that same night to fly back and be waiting for him at his houseboat thinking the same thing he is! The storyline overall needed to be built out more, but it is a short novel and for its length, it was pretty well plotted out.
