House of Salt and Sorrows by: Erin A. Craig

I thoroughly enjoyed this book! I felt it had the perfect balance of a mystery thriller/romance. I liked that I couldn’t guess what was going to happen also. Usually while reading, you almost always have some sort of idea of what’s going to happen or what the ending would be…not this one! I want to write a long review of everything that happens but don’t want to spoil everything! I’ll keep it brief.

You start off learning about the curse; The children all die horrible and mysterious deaths. From there, you go with Annaleigh on a journey to find why her family is cursed – learning of ghosts haunting her little sister, as well as meeting a mysterious handsome stranger that has caught her eye. You get to know the personalities of each remaining sister and hoping against hope that she’ll save her family before their time runs out. When she starts learning of the ghosts in their home her little sister has been seeing, it honestly got a bit creepy. I was reading this late at night while home alone.. it definitely got to me a bit. I wasn’t expecting it to take that turn but it added a lot of depth to the book and it all makes sense as you get further along.

Overall, the book takes you on so many twists and turns that it was a really fun read. It wasn’t like any other YA books that I’ve read recently and I think that is why I enjoyed it so much. Definitely a page turner and highly recommend.
